Wallpaper for Bathroom Decorating Ideas

Study interior design, there will be many interesting things to learn and apply. With the knowledge that you got from studying interior design you can start decorating your bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, garden and other areas in your own house. The knowledge that you will get, theoretically and practical give you so many benefits for yourself and for your future career.

Talking about the knowledge that you will get, there is one topic of interior design that is interesting and used by many people. That is to use wallpaper at home. To be more specific, this post will talking about how to choose the best wallpaper for bathroom decoration idea.

As we know bathroom is a special place, where it is used mainly for taking a bath, shower, and so on. In a day we can spend hours in bathroom. Bathrooms walls will mostly related to water and humidity. Therefore you should choose wallpaper that made from water proof material, such as vinyl coated wallpaper, acrylic vinyl or polyvinyl chloride. These materials are easy to clean, because you can clean it by scrubbing it. These materials are not easily spoiled due to humid and wet condition.

In reality, moss and fungus may appear on bathroom’s wall surface. The hot, wet and humid atmospheres potentially weaken the wallpaper glue and making that flaking edges. So, before you hang the wallpaper, there are number of preparation that you must do. First is to check the surface of the wall. If the condition of the wall look poor, where you can see moss or fungus are there or the wall’s paint is peeling edges then you can do the second step. That is to replastering the wall. This is to improve the surface condition of the wall. The third step is to stick that wallpaper on the wall.

The advantageous of wallpaper for bathroom are very cheap and there are wide ranges of colors and motives that you can choose for your bathroom. You can play with motives, patterns and colors to make your bathroom more attractive and not bored. Those patters and motives are like floral, mosaic, beach effect and more. You can adjust the wallpaper’s color it with the color of your bathroom closet, wash basin or bath tub. With the right selection of wallpaper you can give special effect to your bathroom. For example the vertically striped wallpaper motive will make the bathroom look bigger and higher.

Disadvantages of wallpaper for bathroom is not long lasting because the most materials of wallpaper is not water resistant, the bathroom condition can lead to peeling edge of that wallpaper. That will make the look of the wall getting worse. If you have wet bathroom at home, it is not suggested to use wallpaper, because the high intensity of wet and humid will make the wallpaper easier to be damaged.

You can start to decorate you bathroom with so much fun and enjoyment by choosing the most interesting wallpaper design that fits to your style and desire. This will lead you to a new excited and challenging experiment.

Sharing your tips with me! Please?!

Luke is getting himself organised to hang this wallpaper. I received some fabulous advice from Mel's Rose Place ; "One thing i found with the glue is that it stays wet for a LONG time so there is no rush in getting it all up quickly. Think that is where i went a bit wrong in that i tried to rush it believing that the glue was about to dry. Mine was a powder that you mixed up into a glue , like a cake mix!! I also found it was easier to trim once it was all dry and now being day 2 mine looks 100% better than it did yesterday."

This lovely advice made me realise, there are so many clever people out there, surely I can use your knowledge to help Luke along? I would love to hear from you if you have hung wallpaper, read anything about hanging wallpaper or perhaps you just have well something good or bad to say about it! Pattern Inspiration - DIY Damask

For some reason, damask wasn't on my Pattern Inspiration list. That is until I saw these two fabulous DIY projects! Now I'm thinking I may have to pull another Pattern Inspiration post together in the future with more damask inspiration. Today I just wanted to highlight these two projects.

Ashley at Lil Boo Blue screen printed and sewed these damask print window treatments. Here's some of what she said in her post: "I wanted drapes that were simple and elegant but also that fit our informal living style. I love how they "pool" on the floor.....adds a little drama to our everyday living space."
