Home Design Ideas Series: Investing in Butterfly Roof Home Design

Butterfly Roof Home Design

A house design with butterfly roof can be found many during the American post war. Although the design already found during the post war, it’s not outdated to have a butterfly roof home design today as it bring clean lines and organic elements toward your urban development. What’s more it’s still a modern home trademark until today and still worth in investing towards this kind of home design.

Why should you invest on butterfly roof home design? By the time you learn about a butterfly roof home design, you will notice that this kind of organic home design brings more benefits to you. In the arid climate of extreme periods of drought the butterfly roof can become useful to capture rainfall and channel it into a contained space. It also provides the house with open air feel house concept and bring towards more sunlight which means you’re reducing the use of electricity and this means less fans or air conditioning usage during the day.

As we mention that this butterfly roof house can capture rainfall it means that if we break it down then we will have the water collected for watering plants, flushing toilets and even for drinking. The butterfly roof house can be very aerodynamic as it can be useful in climates with severe winds. By investing through a butterfly home design the benefits that you will also get advancements in exterior design such as window placement. In a climate which is extreme like today this organic house design is worth it and also up to date with the post modern design. Worth to invest isn’t it?

Home Design Ideas - Split the Garage!

At Larson Brenner Architects I am currently working a client on a new home design to be constructed in Rochester, MN.  Here we have run into a very common dilemma.  What to do with 3 1/2 cars worth of garage?

If you put all of that garage to the side of the house you get one very wide plan.  If you put all of that garage forward of the house you get one very deep plan.  Many lots cannot accommodate either one of those plan arrangements.  So what I have proposed to do here is to split the garages into two separate structures.  The main two car garage is directly connected to the house via the mudroom zone.  The additional 1 1/2 car garage is placed on the opposite side of the lot; resulting in a nifty little entry court.  See sketches below.

Here you can see a birds eye view of the layout.  Notice the roof between the garage and house is low.  This helps to reduce the mass of the house.  Pulling the garages a bit forward of the front porch creates a nifty little courtyard.

So when you develop your next house plan - please think about the impact of that garage and look for creative solutions.

Beautiful, Luxury And Sophisticated Condominium Design

Beirut Residence is an luxury apartment located in Marina Towers building, Beirut, Lebanon. It is designed by Joe Serrins Studio in simple, clean and sophisticated style.

There are a lot of unique things implemented in its interior design. For example, the craftsmanship on walls and ceiling is truly amazing. It perfectly harmonizes with the rest interior yet add cool, not overwhelming accents. The 5,000-square-foot condominium also features an amazing views of the city thanks to its high location.

The cool thing is that even though the apartment is really luxury it doesn’t feature marble, gold and velvet that are so popular among such kind of living environments.

Minimalist House Plan Design by Craftsman

Simple and minimalist design house plans directly from the many houses have been built.

This has been one of the most popular of the Craftsman home design and shown here has been slightly modified from the plan first, modifications and improvements that have been suggested by different people who have built homes, so they are all very valuable as a result of practical experience. Although the picture shows the patch walls and foundations of field stone, the design lends itself quite as easily to a wall of brick or stone, or even for shingles or clapboards, if a wooden house as desired.

Outside the kitchen at the back is only recommended if the house built in this country, because in that city would not be necessary. In such a farmhouse outside the kitchen because it affords the easiest place for outdoor work such as laundry and ironing, canning, preserving and other tasks much less tedious if done in the open. The position of the chimney at the rear of the house to allow the stove to be placed on the porch he was to use it. This house was designed so that the kitchen in the vicinity may be added to or removed, as desired, without making any difference to the overall plan. Plan of the lower story shows the composition of ordinary open Craftsman houses. The entrance opens into the small entries are filtered from the living room by portieres weight, so no draft from the front door is felt on the inside.

Beautiful Pool House in Connecticut by Hariri & Hariri Architecture

This 1200 square feet structure was designed as a minimalist sculpture in the landscape. It is part of a 3.5 acre property in Connecticut. The architecture of this pool house is in contrast to the traditional architecture of the existing house yet the design sets up a dialogue between the two. The architecture of the pool house hovers over a 48′x20′ pool like a vessel in the water. On the North there is a spa and an outdoor/ indoor shower, and on the south there is a roofed veranda acting as an indoor/ outdoor dinning area with a large opening on the wall framing the landscape beyond. The area around the pool becomes a sunken courtyard paved in travertine with steps and walls of stone. The interior of this pool house contains a living/ entertainment room, kitchen and bar area, simple bathroom and variety of terraces and decks. It is enclosed by series of metal and glass sliding panels that would allow the structure to be transparent and open up towards outside (

Kids’ Room Decor Ideas | Home Design Ideas

Designing a room for kids is very different from designing one for adults. Children use their rooms for playing games, studying, listening to music, day-dreaming and what not! In this post, we will share a few quick tips on designing a kid’s room and also give you some inspiration to work with.

Tips for Designing a Kid’s Room

1. Talk with the child for getting his/her opinion about what their room should look like.

2. Children use the room for a variety of purposes. So it would be ideal if the room is designed to be multi-functional with play area, reading space, entertainment space, etc.

3. Keep safety a priority. If for example, the child’s room is next to stairs, make sure the stairs have railings. Keep the furniture clear of the doorway and install a night light in the room.

4. Ensure enough storage space for toys, clothing and other stuff that kids treasure. Though clutter may be a matter of opinion, try assigning a place for everything.

5. Bring in a surprise element! For example, kids love secret spaces! Try to fit one in if the room layout allows you.
