The popular social networking site Facebook recently employed the services of San Francisco design firm Studio O+A to design their new corporate headquarters in Palo Alto’s Stanford Research Park, and the results are not surprisingly quite impressive.
The offices were designed to facilitate employee interaction and connection in order to reflect the company’s mission to connect people; a notion that was even reflected during the design phase of the offices as company-wide polls and personal interviews were conducted to determine what the employees wanted from .
The new facility is the first commercial project that has been completed under Palo Alto’s 2008 Green Building Ordinance, which was accomplished by recycling and repurposing various components of the original facility such as millwork and industrial components. Furthermore the offices also feature energy-efficient lighting and high recycled-content carpet.
